Opinion Forum -- Michael Wootton, off duty VT police officer shot & killed neighbors dog

From Joan:  Reinstating this wild cop is an abysmal lack of common sense. This guy was off duty and used his police revolver to kill his neighbor's dog. He performed this murder in public view of a bunch of children, including the little girl to whom the dead dog belonged. The cop could have killed a child. He is definitely a loose cannon and should never be on any law enforcement agency or be allowed to carry a gun ever again, especially in a neighborhood. He really was protected by the police department as he was placed on administrative leave with full salary and now he's back in a position to act as executioner. The town needs to protest this idiot's return to duty.

From anonymous:  my gut said this cop would get off, they always do - I'm so sick and tired of cops getting away with this stuff. if he had to shoot something why didn't he do it to his own dog. His dog was the problem by going over to the other dogs home, of course Hooch was going to react. This cop had other options, in fact, he walked right past his own dog to go home and get his gun. No wonder people don't trust cops - there was no justice for Hooch here today.
